On September 26th, T.E.A.L.® and YWCA Greenwich co-hosted an informational seminar to increase awareness about ovarian cancer. This seminar was part of the Women’s Health and Wellness Initiative of YWCA Greenwich.This two hour seminar featured Dr. Kevin Holcomb the Director of Gynecologic Oncology at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell and Dr. Melissa K. Frey, Assistant Professor at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell, who discussed the basics of ovarian cancer and key methods of prevention as well as the role of genetics in preventing ovarian cancer. Dr. Elena Ratner, Director of Early Ovarian Cancer Detection at Stamford Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital was moderating the discussion. Kaile Josephs Zagger, whose mom passed away at age 46 from ovarian cancer was also in attendance to share her story and as a T.E.A.L.® representative.
