On Thursday, June 27, 2024, the T.E.A.L.® Community Center in Park Slope, BK, hosted a Nutrition Workshop in partnership with New York Gastroenterology Associates. The workshop focused on dispelling myths and offering tips for plant-focused eating. Attendees enjoyed tacos for dinner, and a Q&A session highlighting the importance of creating plant-forward meals, led by two nutritionists.
2024 Getting Our Fair SHARE Conference
On June 27, 2024, T.E.A.L.®’s Gynecologic Oncology Patient Navigator, attended the 2024 Getting Our Fair SHARE Conference in New York, New York. The conference focused on addressing health disparities affecting women with cancer due to biases related to race, culture, language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Workshop topics included biases in oncology care, new digital health tools in patient navigation, and networking opportunities with oncology research and patient care professionals.
Exciting Update!
T.E.A.L.® is proud that on June 24, 2024, two of our initiatives, our Reproductive Medical Associates (RMA) of NY collaboration brochure and our Barriers to Women’s Health video as part of our T.E.A.L.® Couch video series were launched! We thank RMA for collaborating on this important oncofertility and fertility preservation brochure project and we thank Golda Arthur from Overlooked Podcast (https://overlookedpod.com/) for being a part of our T.E.A.L.® Couch video series and talking with us about how to overcome barriers to women’s health. All of these topics are important and understanding them can help us take preventative measures for the fight against ovarian cancer. PAWA and T.E.A.L.®
On June 24, 2024, six members of the Protection of Asian Women in America (PAWA) of New York City participated in T.E.A.L.®’s weekly morning meditation at Prospect Park in Brooklyn and then visited our T.E.A.L.® Community Center to explore collaboration opportunities and educational initiatives for their members. We had the opportunity to educate their members on the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, as well as share our ovarian cancer awareness cards, which are available in multiple languages. It was great to learn about PAWA, which is dedicated to empowering women with self-awareness and personal growth through advocacy, support services, community education, and philanthropic events.
T.E.A.L.® attends Cancer and Careers’ 14th Annual National Conference on Work & Cancer
On June 21, 2024, T.E.A.L.®’s Gynecologic Oncology Patient Navigator participated in Cancer and Careers’ 14th Annual National Conference on Work & Cancer webinar. This full-day event united more than 770 patients, survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, advocates, employers/HR representatives, and others affected by cancer. The conference focused on navigating the challenges of balancing treatment and recovery with employment. Key topics discussed included continuing to work during treatment, making decisions about disclosing one’s condition, and managing treatment-related side effects.
T.E.A.L.® Chemo Kits to Memorial Sloan Kettering
On June 18, 2024, T.E.A.L.®’s Gynecologic Oncology Patient Navigator delivered over 50 chemo kits to the Barbara White Fishman Women’s Outpatient Center at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Midtown, NY. These kits will be given to ovarian cancer patients at the hospital. A big thank you to Jocelyn, a T.E.A.L.® volunteer, for making this collaboration possible!
SunnyPride 2024
Thank you to Sunnyside Shines for hosting such a wonderful pride month event on June 14, 2024, in Sunnyside, NY! T.E.A.L.® staff enjoyed walking around and speaking to vendors and community members about health and health care accessibility for women and gender minorities, especially among Spanish speaking populations. We also handed out our ovarian cancer awareness cards in both English and Spanish.
T.E.A.L.® and Lavelle School for the Blind
On June 10, 2024, a representative from the Lavelle School for the Blind met with T.E.A.L® staff and volunteers at the T.E.A.L® Community Center as a first step in forging a partnership between the school and T.E.A.L®. Lavelle’s representative brought beautiful student-made artwork, which is now displayed in the windows of the T.E.A.L.® Community Center in Park Slope, BK.
Located in the Bronx, the Lavelle School for the Blind is an educational institution which provides students with visual impairments education and resources. Both T.E.A.L® and Lavelle look forward to partnering with each other at future events.

Brooklyn Multicultural Pride Festival 2024
On June 8th, 2024, Tell Every Amazing Lady® attended the Brooklyn Multicultural Festival in celebration of pride month in Park Slope, Brooklyn, spanning from Union Street to 9th Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn. At this event, T.E.A.L.® handed out awareness materials and joined our friends at TD Bank for a picture in order to help spread awareness and support the fight against ovarian cancer.
T.E.A.L.®’s In-Person Energy Healing and Meditation in collaboration with Prospect Park Alliance and Jane Weedon
Since the pandemic, Tell Every Amazing Lady® has hosted a weekly Energy Healing and Meditation Workshop online and then in 2024 launched a new in-person summer series presented by Tell Every Amazing Lady® In partnership with Prospect Park Alliance and moderated by Jane Weedon, offering participants a soothing start to their week and fostering wellness. These sessions include breathing exercises, tips to mediate stress and anxiety, and the opportunity to meet other community members. Please visit Event Central to sign up today
Brooklyn Pride LGBTQIA+ 5K Run/Walk
T.E.A.L.® staff attended the Brooklyn Pride LGBTQIA+ 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 8, 2024 in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. T.E.A.L.® enjoyed showing support for LGBTQIA+ community members and celebrating Pride Month! We also used this opportunity to invite participants to our own 16th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run™ Celebration coming up on September 7, 2024!
Global Running Day Event with Lululemon
On June 5th, 2024, the Las Vegas T.E.A.L.® Committee collaborated with Lululemon for Global Running Day in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event raised awareness about ovarian cancer and assisted in spreading the word about the First Las Vegas T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run™. Tell Every Amazing Lady® had an awareness table with flyers and other materials for the public.
CAMBA Beacon 361’s Block Party and Health Fair in East Flatbush
On June 1st, 2024, T.E.A.L.® participated in CAMBA Beacon 361’s Block Party and Health Fair in East Flatbush, New York. T.E.A.L.® set up a table to inform attendees about the signs, symptoms and risk factors of ovarian cancer and introduce them to T.E.A.L.®’s mission and programming. It was a great way for us to engage with and spread awareness to the community. Thank you to CAMBA for inviting us!
Brooklyn Org’s Park Slope Listening Tour
On May 30, 2024, T.E.A.L.®’s CEO attended Brooklyn Org’s Park Slope Listening Tour at Da Nonna Rosa in Park Slope, BK. The purpose of this event was to hear from Brooklynites who are doing important work in the community. T.E.A.L.®’s CEO got to present, and discuss T.E.A.L.®’s mission, and spread awareness about ovarian cancer. It was a wonderful way to engage with the community, while simultaneously learning more about other community-based organizations, leaders, and educators.
