World Ovarian Cancer Day was on May 8th, 2023. To celebrate, T.E.A.L.® hosted distinguished guests, including Dr. Kevin Holcomb, Steve Buscemi, Deputy Brooklyn Borough President Kim Council, Deputy Commissioner of Family and Child Health Dr. Leslie Hayes, survivors, and community members at the T.E.A.L.® Community Center in Park Slope Brooklyn, NY. Nancy Irizarry, one of T.E.A.L.® ‘s board members and ovarian cancer survivor shared her story and fight against the disease. Irizarry shared the importance of understanding the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, how early detection is the key in battling this disease, and the importance of genetics and genetic testing. T.E.A.L.® thanks News12 for covering this event and for providing awareness to all of its viewers on this important day!
