I’m running for Team Tell Every Amazing Lady® because I have seen how our world’s neglect of women are continuously disenfranchised by our healthcare system, and the only solution to improve outcomes is to raise awareness and fund research initiatives, both things that are core to Tell Every Amazing Lady®’s mission. In addition, women have been denied the healing properties of community with the increasing medicalization (and subsequent ignoring) of their health concerns. Tell Every Amazing Lady® both addresses the structural inequities and offers a safe space to have discussions about womens’ health, breaking down taboos and improving outcomes. I work in healthcare investing, and have through conversations with founders and other investors seen how there is still so much work to be done. Personally, I found out I had PCOS at the beginning of this year – a “catch-all” disease that has implications for the entire body, and has no cure besides lifestyle adjustments, and goes undiagnosed in women who are passed around a medical system that does not listen to their concerns. Thankfully, because I recognized the symptoms in myself, I was able to ask for the necessary tests to be done. I run for all the women who should not have to be experts in their health to get the best care possible, for all the women who feel alone with health problems they feel are too ugly to speak out loud.
My goal for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon is to finish it in under 5.5 hours, and in my training for it, start conversations about women’s health. I love that with running, I can connect to the world around me, really seeing and feeling it throughout all my senses without any distractions. I would create a non-invasive test that can accurately diagnose ovarian cancer. I would tell them that they are loved and that they are not alone.
