Kendra Scott SoHo hosts Shop and Sip Event for T.E.A.L.®

Kendra Scott’s SoHo, Manhattan location hosted a Shop and Sip event benefiting T.E.A.L.® on February 10th, 2023. Representatives and volunteers from T.E.A.L.® attended the event and handed out fliers and awareness cards in the streets of SoHo. Those who shopped at Kendra Scott Soho during the event left with valuable awareness of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. A portion of the sales from the day went to the benefit of T.E.A.L.® with a total of $593 being donated to the organization. 

T.E.A.L.® takes part in Navigating a Gynecologic Cancer Diagnosis Webinar

T.E.A.L.®, along with several other health organizations, sponsored an interactive webinar titled Navigating a Gynecologic Cancer Diagnosis held on January 24th, 2023. The purpose of the webinar was to allow anyone who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, or any gynecologic cancer to join and learn about helpful resources and become a part of a supportive community. The guest speakers at the webinar included a gynecologic oncologist, a psychosocial expert as well as an ovarian cancer survivor. The webinar was extremely successful, which was largely in part to attendees as well as the other sponsors, which included: Mount Sinai, Woman to Woman, the Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance, Sharsheret, Judy’s Mission, and Discovery to Cure. T.E.A.L.® attends career fair at Brooklyn Prospect High School

Tell Every Amazing Lady® took part in Brooklyn Prospect High School’s two-day career fair on January 19th, 2023 and January 20th, 2023. A representative from T.E.A.L.® had the opportunity to connect with students in their junior and senior year of high school to discuss the work that T.E.A.L.® does as well as provide insight into what a career in nonprofit work looks like. T.E.A.L.® enjoyed being able to talk about our mission with the students. We are looking forward to potentially hosting interns from Brooklyn Prospect High School later this school year!

The District 20K1 Lions community supports T.E.A.L.® with donations in 2022

Each year the Lions Club District 20-K1 NY, a local chapter of an international organization that is dedicated to serving the community, supports the work of Tell Every Amazing Lady® through volunteerism and donations. In 2022, members donated $2,685.00 to Tell Every Amazing Lady®. Thank you for your continued support throughout the years! The donations help T.E.A.L.® follow its mission of spreading awareness about ovarian cancer!

Global Wellness visits the T.E.A.L.® Community Center for a walk and talk

On November 18th, 2022, Nemika Galloway, the founder of Global Wellness, a Health and Wellness organization working to change the Globe one Walk at a Time, visited the T.E.A.L.® Community Center to learn about Tell Every Amazing Lady® and interview the CEO and co-founder, Pamela Esposito-Amery. After a tour of the foundation’s center, Nemika sat down with Pamela for a brief chat for Global Wellness’ Instagram live on the importance of ovarian cancer awareness and the vital work T.E.A.L.® does. Pamela and Nemika continued their Instagram live while walking around the neighborhood together.

Women’s Health Innovation Coalition

Tell Every Amazing Lady® took part in Springboard Enterprises’ Women’s Health Innovation Coalition, in partnership with Roche: 2022 Women’s Health Innovation Forum Series on November 15th, 2022. The event highlighted opportunities for investment in research and innovation in the field of women’s health. CEO and co-founder Pamela Esposito-Amery had the opportunity to speak at the forum to talk about T.E.A.L.® as well as shed light on her own personal experiences

OrangeTheory Rockaway Beach Hosts Class to Benefit T.E.A.L.®

On Sunday, October 23rd, 2022 OrangeTheory Fitness Rockaway Beach in Queens, NY hosted their first ever 90-minute class in honor of T.E.A.L®. Advocates for T.E.A.L.® spent the whole morning at the spreading awareness about ovarian cancer signs and symptoms. OrangeTheory Fitness Rockaway Beach is a brand new studio and T.E.A.L.® was honored to be honored in their first ever 90-minute class!

South Brooklyn Lions Golf for T.E.A.L.®

On October 14th, 2022 T.E.A.L.® attended the South Brooklyn Lions Club Memorial Golf Outing at Dyker Beach Golf Course in Brooklyn, NY. T.E.A.L.®, along with The Guild for Exceptional Children, were the beneficiaries of the event. It was a day full of golfing followed by a dinner with raffles and giveaways. T.E.A.L.® had the opportunity to set up a table at the event, hand out awareness materials, and connect with members of the club and their friends and family to spread awareness.

Quarterly T.E.A.L.® Survivor Social held with special guest Dr. Shieva Ghofrany

Tell Every Amazing Lady® kicked off October with their quarterly T.E.A.L.® Survivor Social for ovarian cancer patients and survivors to gather virtually, share stories with one another, and hear from Dr. Shieva Ghofrany, MD, OBGYN and co-founder of Tribe Called V. On October 1st, 2022, Dr. Shieva spoke to the attendees about her personal battle with ovarian cancer and the power of gratitude.

Kean University spreads awareness for T.E.A.L.®

On September 27th, 2022, former T.E.A.L.® Genetic Counseling interns gathered together and decorated the sidewalks of the Kean University campus in Union, New Jersey to spread awareness about ovarian cancer Tell Every Amazing Lady®.

T.E.A.L.® partners with Kith + Kin for Teal Talk Day

September 23 is Teal Talk Day –  a day to increase ovarian cancer awareness among women. On this day in 2022, Tell Every Amazing Lady® collaborated with Kith + Kin, a health management app, to craft a blog post highlighting some ovarian cancer statistics as well as the signs and symptoms of the disease.

T.E.A.L.® ties ribbons in Brooklyn for National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

T.E.A.L.® and its amazing volunteers tied ovarian cancer awareness ribbons on trees on Myrtle Avenue, 5th Avenue, and North Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn in collaboration with Turn the Towns Teal® on September 15th, 2022.

T.E.A.L.® holds an awareness presentation for LIU genetic counseling interns

For the fourth year in a row, T.E.A.L.® presented virtually to students from Long Island University’s Post Genetic Counseling Graduate Program on September 13th, 2022. T.E.A.L.® held a virtual awareness presentation for the 15 incoming interns to kickoff their internship rotation. The presentation discussed the history of T.E.A.L.® and the work we do, the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer as well as the importance of genetic testing.

T.E.A.L.® lights Parachute Jump lighting in Coney Island for sixth year in a row

Tell Every Amazing Lady® partnered with Luna Park in Coney Island to light the iconic Parachute Jump the color teal from September 12 to September 14, 2022 to mark National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. 

The bulbs on the Brooklyn attraction also spelled out the word “teal,” the official color that symbolizes the cause — and also stands for Tell Every Amazing Lady®. 

Illuminating the structure, which can be seen from miles away, helps raise more awareness about the deadly disease.

Tell Every Amazing Lady® CEO and co-founder Pamela Esposito was the guest speaker on RMA of New York’s Fertility Forward podcast on September 9, 2022.

On this episode, Esposito explained how T.E.A.L.® was founded, her sister’s journey, the mission statement of T.E.A.L.®, the resources it provides to those affected by ovarian cancer, symptoms of the disease, the necessity of better resources and screening for the disease, and events T.E.A.L.® hosts, specifically the T.E.A.L.® walk/run and women’s health expo.

T.E.A.L.® partners with JScreen to provide cancer genetic testing kits

Tell Every Amazing Lady® was pleased to partner with JScreen, a nonprofit organization that focuses on offering genetic testing and education. They participated in our annual event, the T.E.A.L.® Celebration and Women’s Health Expo in September 2022. Also, during the fall of 2022, JScreen provided T.E.A.L.® with vouchers for CancerGEN genetic testing kits. Through a campaign that was able to reach hundreds, 61 people received genetic testing at no cost. The CancerGEN testing kits test for genetic changes that increase risk for many types of cancer. Since there is no 100% accurate screening test for ovarian cancer, genetic testing can be lifesaving and is critical to those families at risk. T.E.A.L.® hopes to continue offering no cost lifesaving resources similar to this in the future.

P.S. 164 Decorates the T.E.A.L.® Community Center Windows for Summer

On May 26th, 2022, P.S.164 in Brooklyn created gorgeous floral art for the T.E.A.L.® Community Center windows! The art included a flower-covered awareness ribbon and flowers of multiple colors and sizes to highlight the summer aesthetic. 

Solange Cisneros, the parent coordinator at P.S. 164, provided this statement with the childrens’ artwork: “The students of P.S. 164 were introduced to T.E.A.L.®’s mission in order to create this artwork. Students from our general education, Gifted & Talented, ASD Horizon, and 12:1 classes were involved in coloring and cutting over 1,000 flowers to create a cancer awareness ribbon and a 3D flower frame. This artwork was designed to display a message of hope to ovarian cancer patients and brings a vibrant display to the community to spread the message of hope, love, and support to anyone affected and impacted by this disease. The P.S. 154 school and community is a proud and strong partner of T.E.A.L.®’s mission and vision.”

T.E.A.L.® attends Brooklyn Community Board 3’s virtual meeting for Senior Services

We are excited about the new connections that were made and looking forward to being involved in future activities.

Tell Every Amazing Lady® joined Mount Sinai’s Public Health Virtual Career Fair on April 13th, 2022  along with many other health-related organizations. Interested Public Health students were able to connect with our staff one-on-one over video call to learn about how to get involved with Tell Every Amazing Lady® and how they could be instrumental in helping promote our mission. An awareness presentation about our programs was part of the online program.

T.E.A.L.® hosts Purposefully Pretty, Inc. Volunteers! 

Tell Every Amazing Lady® has partnered up with Purposefully Pretty, Inc. to create opportunities for young women to come volunteer with us and put together the T.E.A.L.®  Kits we send out each month. PurposefullyPretty Inc. is a non-for-profit organization seeking to reach out to, teach and inspire young women of color between the ages of 11-19, to identify and pursue their purpose. We were so excited to welcome them to our T.E.A.L.® Community Center on Februrary 19, 2022 and get the help we need to support our growing survivor program. We also provided educational information to the volunteers about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer.

T.E.A.L.® presents to Kean University Graduate Program Genetic Counseling Students

Tell Every Amazing Lady ® hosted Kean University Genetic Counseling Graduate Students for a virtual presentation about ovarian cancer diagnosis and risk factors, as well as support and resources available through T.E.A.L.® on February 17th, 2022. Interested students had the opportunity to work with us over the summer for their advocacy rotation as part of their program. We were excited to see so many eager students ready to help spread awareness about ovarian cancer to soon-to-be health care professionals. 

T.E.A.L.® partners with multiple cancer support organizations for Newly Diagnosed with Gynecological Cancer Webinar

On February 15th, 2022 T.E.A.L.® partnered with Woman to Woman, Mt. Sinai, Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance, Yale School of Medicine, and Clearity to host a webinar for those newly diagnosed with gynecological cancer. The webinar featured an oncologist, oncology social worker, and an ovarian cancer patient. The purpose of this virtual workshop was to inform, educate, and support anyone who has been diagnosed with gynecological cancer.

CEO and co-founder of T.E.A.L.®, Pamela Esposito-Amery, was joined by Pratt Institute students on November 12th, 2021 virtually to share the ins and outs of nonprofit management, how to secure an internship with an organization like T.E.A.L.®, as well as T.E.A.L.®’s mission and work. T.E.A.L.® has booth at virtual 2021 World Ovarian Cancer Coalition Partner Meeting 

T.E.A.L.® was invited to design and host a virtual booth at the 2021 World Ovarian Cancer Coalition Partner Meeting from September 30th – October 1st, 2021. Ovarian cancer organizations from all over the world attended the sessions and networked. Participants were able to virtually “pop in” to our booth and learn more about our foundation and the work that we do. This was a great event bringing the global ovarian cancer community together. 

Throggs Neck CKO hosts Punch-a-Thon Fundraiser for T.E.A.L.®

On September 24th, 2021 the Throggs Neck CKO in the Bronx held a Punch-a-Thon fundraiser for T.E.A.L.® to raise money to fight ovarian cancer. Attendees kickboxed to raise the money and distributed T.E.A.L.® awareness materials to spread information about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. 

T.E.A.L.® speaks at virtual event hosted by NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and the Meyer Cancer Center of Weill Cornell Medicine

T.E.A.L.® joined community stakeholders, local health care providers, and leadership from NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and the Meyer Cancer Center of Weill Cornell Medicine for a discussion about the health needs of Brooklyn residents on September 13, 2021. T.E.A.L.® was able to share awareness and info about the foundation at the event.
