On September 9th, 2023 reporters from News 12 Brooklyn were present at the 15th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run® Celebration. The segment highlighted the Walk/Run® event. The reporter informed viewers that T.E.A.L.® had additional upcoming events, as well as educating viewers on ovarian cancer facts and statistics.
12th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run held virtually
T.E.A.L.® held the 12th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run virtually on September 12th, 2020. Survivors, their family members and friends, and many others were able to participate in the virtual walk or run to raise awareness for ovarian cancer from anywhere in the country. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, T.E.A.L.®’s usual in-person event in Prospect Park moved to a virtual platform for the safety of participants. T.E.A.L.® volunteers, staff, board members, and celebrities filmed a video to give participants a chance to feel connected and virtually kick off the event together online.
11th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run held in Prospect Park
Thousands of runners and walkers gathered in Prospect Park on September 7th to participate in the 11th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run, honor the strength of survivors, and look forward to a day without ovarian cancer.
The yearly event featured a non-competitive walk, a 5K, the T.E.A.L.® Survivor Ceremony at the Bandshell, and several booths from T.E.A.L.® and sponsors.
New to this year’s walk was the Amazing Lady Membership Program. T.E.A.L.® staff members talked to survivors about the program, helping them sign up to receive the free T.E.A.L.® Kits.
Bake Sale for Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk’s Team Margaret
On August 12th, a bake sale was held at St. Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in Lynbrook, NY to raise funds for Team Margaret. The bake sale was open to the church community and raised $141. Thank you to team captain, Janice, for putting this together!
10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run on ABC7

10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run for Ovarian Cancer
On September 8th, 2018, T.E.A.L.® hosted the 10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run for ovarian cancer. Thanks to the many participants and volunteers at the 10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run, T.E.A.L.® celebrated a decade of raising awareness, supporting survivors, and funding ovarian cancer research. The walk took place at the Bandshell at Prospect Park and hasn’t reached its goal yet of $250,000! To donate go to www.TealWalk.org/Brooklyn. All the profits raised at the 10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run will go to supporting T.E.A.L.® mission of awareness, support, and medical research.
The event included a non-competitive run, walk, a survivor ceremony, and several booths and stations for ovarian cancer awareness and support. During September, which is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month T.E.A.L.® Walks could be seen in various cities of the USA throughout the month. Thank you to all the walkers, runners, and volunteers who made this year’s events possible, and thank you to everyone who has helped T.E.A.L.® continue its mission in the past 10 years!
Bag Stuffing Day
On August 25th, T.E.A.L.® had over 40 volunteers come to our Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Community Center to help stuff our goodie bags for the 10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run. Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers – without your help none of this would be possible!
A Night at the Races- Team Annie Fundraiser 2018
The 5th Annual Team Annie Fundraiser for the 10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run™ in loving memory of Andrea “Annie” Roberts took place on May 18th, 2018 at Aura Nightclub. Guests were able to enjoy Horse Racing, Buffet, Drink Specials, Raffles, Prizes, Music, & and much more! Hosted by News 12 Long Island’s Antoinette Biordi, it was a great night of raising awareness and spreading the word about T.E.A.L.®’s work throughout New York City and Long Island. Team Annie was able to raise a total of $2,100!
9th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run
On Saturday, September 9th, 2017, our 9th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run in New York took place in Prospect Park. This walk celebrates the courage of ovarian cancer survivors and the strength of the families who’ve been touched by the disease, while spreading awareness to the general public and raising money for research! Participants at the walk enjoyed an appearance by actor, Steve Buscemi, The Brooklynettes, Brielle Von Hugel, Ellen Karis, Brooklyn Borough President and Councilman Espinal among many other distinguished guests plus activity booths, the T.E.A.L.® Walk and 5K Run, and much more. Over $250,000 was raised!
2017 Team Annie Fundraiser
On May 5th, 2017 Tell Every Amazing Lady® traveled to Long Island, NY for the 4th Annual Team Annie Team Fundraiser for the 9th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run. The event was organized by Andrea Silverstein and held in memory of Annie “Andrea” Roberts. T.E.A.L.® handed out flyers and brochures, providing more information about the work that Tell Every Amazing Lady® is doing and how to get involved and also sold merchandise to raise funds for the organization. Teal lights adorned the ceilings of the beautiful venue and the dance floor was lit teal! Music filled the room and News 12’s Christine Insinga kept the crowd going. Tell Every Amazing Lady® CEO, Pamela Esposito-Amery and Andrea Silverstein were even interviewed by Insinga for Long Island’s News 12. It was night filled with a food, drink specials, raffles, prizes, music, and education for an AMAZING cause raising over $3000!
8th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run
On September 10th, 2016, the 8th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run took place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Over 2,000 people were in attendance. Thank you to participants, volunteers, special guests, survivors, and families who helped us celebrate 8 years of awareness, courage, and the strength of both Ovarian Cancer survivors and the families who have been touched by the disease. This event included a 5K Run, Free Yoga, booth activities, Stage Performances and Activities, a 5K Run Award Ceremony, the Annual T.E.A.L.® Survivor Ceremony, and of course the T.E.A.L.® Walk. This event was a huge success spreading knowledge about ovarian cancer, and raised $244,312 for medical research and awareness programs.

Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® 5K Run
Annually, the Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® 5K Run takes place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn NY during National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. About 500 runners participate every year with special prizes awarded to the fastest overall top three male and female 5K runners.These AMAZING winners receive medals and assorted prizes every year on Prospect Park’s Bandshell Stage. In addition to the overall top 6 runners, run medals by 7 age group categories are awarded every year to our special 5K Run winners. These age groups range from 7yrs-70 yrs. All of our runners are AMAZING! Thank you for all of your support and running for our cause! Don’t forget to join our T.E.A.L.® Brooklyn 5K Run in September 2017 in Prospect Park, Brooklyn and to check the 5K Run booth following the 2017 race to see if YOU qualified for a 5K Run medal.
2016 Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run Survivor Raffle Prize
There will be a Survivor Raffle at the 8th Annual Brooklyn ®T.E.A.L. Walk/Run (9/10/2016). Our Definition of a Survivor: is an “Amazing Lady” who at any time in her life has been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. This prize entitles the bearer to free registration for the “nicest room in town” for Stowe Weekend of Hope 2017 in Vermont (May 5th to May 7th, 2017). No deposit or online registration required. This prize includes local Vermont gift certificates to Laughing Moon Chocolates VT, Stowe Cider, Ben & Jerry’s, & Shaws General Store donated by GoStowe Vermont. On the day of our event, please visit the survivor booth to enter to win this raffle prize.

Chamel’s T.E.A.L Walk/Run Fundraiser
On August 14, 2015, ®T.E.A.L. Supporter Chamel Robertson and ®T.E.A.L. Survivor Octavia Gallishow hosted a fundraiser at Sweet Science in Williamsburg. Brooklyn with raffle prizes, specialty teal drinks, and more! This event was a success raising almost $800 in support of Ovarian Cancer for the 7th Annual Brooklyn ®T.E.A.L. Walk/Run. They both further supported ®T.E.A.L. whereas Chamel participated in our 7th Annual Brooklyn ®T.E.A.L. 5K run and Octavia participated in our ®T.E.A.L. Survivor Ceremony and ®T.E.A.L. Walk!
