T.E.A.L.® Participates in Harvard Global Women’s Empowerment 3rd Annual Expo

Tell Every Amazing Lady® was featured at the Harvard Global Women’s Empowerment 3rd Annual Expo on September 29, 2018 in Boston. T.E.A.L.® spoke with Harvard students and alumni about ovarian cancer and in an awareness campaign to educate the Harvard community. Showcased among other exceptional Global Women’s programs, T.E.A.L.® advised women to listen to their bodies and provided educational materials. T.E.A.L.® Sponsors Ovarian Cancer Education Course

The Foundation for Women’s Cancer offered a free full-day Ovarian Cancer Education Course for survivors, friends, and families in Manhattan, NY on September 29th, 2018. Tell Every Amazing Lady® sponsored this program which included distributing resources and information to participants at the event. The FWC’s Survivor Course enabled T.E.A.L.® to continue its efforts to support survivors of ovarian cancer along with their caretakers, loved ones, and anyone else affected by ovarian cancer. The survivor course included panels, discussions between survivors, and talks led by doctors throughout the day, as participants went over everything from clinical trials and immunotherapy to mindfulness. T.E.A.L.® is very excited to have been a part of this wonderful program for survivors.

YWCA Greenwich and T.E.A.L.® raise awareness about ovarian cancer

During September, which is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, the YWCA Greenwich provided education and awareness about this terrible disease by holding a lecture on September 26 and also publishing an article on their website: http://www.ywcagreenwich.org/ywca-greenwich-and-teal-raise-awareness-about-ovarian-cancer

The lecture featured Dr. Kevin Holcomb, Direct of Gynecologic Oncology at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Conrell and Dr. Melissa K. Frey, Assistant Professor at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill. Dr. Elena Ratner, Director of Early Ovarian Cancer Detection at Stamford Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital moderated the lecture. Kaile Zagger, whose mother passed away from ovarian cancer, volunteered with T.E.A.L.® to help organize this educational lecture along with YWCA Greenwich.

 

NYC City Hall Turns TEAL

On September 28th, City Hall was lit the color teal in honor of National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month! This was the third year City Hall has been lit teal helping us raise even more awareness about ovarian cancer! We want to thank City Hall for joining our campaign and for the continued support.

 

YWCA Greenwich and T.E.A.L.® Co- Host an Informational Seminar

On September 26th, T.E.A.L.® and YWCA Greenwich co-hosted an informational seminar to increase awareness about ovarian cancer. This seminar was part of the Women’s Health and Wellness Initiative of YWCA Greenwich.This two hour seminar featured Dr. Kevin Holcomb the Director of Gynecologic Oncology at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell and Dr. Melissa K. Frey, Assistant Professor at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell, who discussed the basics of ovarian cancer and key methods of prevention as well as the role of genetics in preventing ovarian cancer. Dr. Elena Ratner, Director of Early Ovarian Cancer Detection at Stamford Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital was moderating the discussion. Kaile Josephs Zagger, whose mom passed away at age 46 from ovarian cancer was also in attendance to share her story and  as a T.E.A.L.® representative.

4th Annual Girls Night Out “Pink & Teal”

Wonder Woman in TEAL

Tell Every Amazing Lady® had the honor of having Wonder Woman in TEAL at our 5th Annual Savannah T.E.A.L.® Walk on September 22, 2018! Faith dressed up as Wonder Woman to honor her mom, Camille Rogers, a professor at Southern Georgia University and an ovarian cancer survivor. As Wonder Woman, Faith was able to distribute over 500 ovarian cancer awareness cards to community members to raise awareness during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. T.E.A.L.® at PS164 Parent Teacher Association Meeting

On September 26th, T.E.A.L.® was invited to speak to the parents at PS 164 in Borough Park, Brooklyn on “TEAL Day”, which was a day designated to raising awareness about ovarian cancer.  Students and teachers were invited to wear the color teal to bring awareness to this awful disease during National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

T.E.A.L.® Turns Myrtle Avenue TEAL again in 2018!

T.E.A.L.® turned Myrtle Avenue TEAL on September 14th with the help of the Myrtle Avenue BID and Turn the Towns Teal®. T.E.A.L.® staff and supporters tied teal ribbons around trees in honor of September being National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Local businesses like Pecks and Corkscrew Wines also got involved by supporting the cause with part of the proceeds of sales for September.

5th Annual Litchfield T.E.A.L.® Walk

The 5th Annual Litchfield T.E.A.L.® Walk in Connecticut took place at Litchfield Community Field on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018.  This walk was intended to spread awareness, courage, and strength of both ovarian cancer survivors and the families who have been touched by the disease while spreading knowledge and raising funds for research for a cure. The event consisting of about 100 people and 11 teams included  activity booths, music, ceremonies and so much more. The walk raised $5000 for our programs. This event was made possible because of the help from Hope Assembly #46, International Order of Rainbow for Girls.

1st Baptist Church Cancer Awareness Day

On September 22nd T.E.A.L.® sent awareness materials to the 3rd Annual Cancer Awareness Day in Richmond Hill, NY. This is an amazing awareness event that allows us to support our mission in telling every amazing lady about ovarian cancer!

Lady Titans Softball Team Supports T.E.A.L.®

The Lady Titans Softball team from Lake Oconee Academy in Georgia, hosted a teal Out game on Tuesday, September 18th. Students and teachers were asked to wear a shirt designed for the game at school on Tuesday and to the game that evening. T.E.A.L.® supporter, Lea, was presented a check for $700 at the start of the varsity game. In addition to wearing teal jerseys and selling the t-shirts, the team also painted teal ribbons on the field and used teal bases. This was an amazing and fun way to raise awareness and funds for ovarian cancer!

Claudia Poccia Recognizes T.E.A.L.®’s Work

Claudia Poccia, best known for her work in the luxury cosmetics and skincare industry, published an article in honor of National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, urging the public to take action in the fight against ovarian cancer. Claudia actively gives back to the cancer community, helping women going through the struggles of cancer look, and feel, beautiful. In the article, Claudia explains how she was affected by ovarian cancer when her sister was diagnosed and gives a shout out to T.E.A.L.® recognizing the work that we do.  Claudia stopped by our T.E.A.L.® Community Center over the summer to meet with our CEO & Co-Founder, Pamela. Greenwich Town Hall Inaugurates September as Ovarian Cancer Month

On September 17th in Greenwich, Connecticut, the Greenwich Town Hall lit up teal to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and inaugurate September as Ovarian Cancer Month. First Selectman, Peter Tesei, issued the proclamation deeming September as ovarian cancer month in Greenwich, and ovarian cancer flags were raised to spread awareness to the community. T.E.A.L.® was represented by Kaile Anne Josephs Zagger in loving memory of Ms. Zagger’s mother, Marilyn Ann Trahan Josephs, who passed away from ovarian cancer at age 46.

During the inauguration Dr. Elena Ratner educated the Greenwich community about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. Dr. Gil More and Dr. Gloria Huang from Yale New Haven Hospital also spoke at the inauguration.

We would like to thank Greenwich Town Hall, Ms. Zagger, Peter Tesei and Dr. Elena, Dr. Gil More and Dr. Gloria Huang for raising awareness about ovarian cancer.

T.E.A.L.® at the 10th Annual Corvette & Open Car Show 2019

T.E.A.L.® participated in the 10th Annual Corvette & Open Car Show in Pompton Plains, NJ on September 16th.  This was a great opportunity to raise awareness about ovarian cancer to 300 people and have a portion of the proceeds will be donated to T.E.A.L.®! Our Youth Ambassador, Sunisha, also stopped by to support! Thank you to the North Jersey Corvette Club for choosing T.E.A.L.® as the beneficiary and raising $1200 for our foundation at this event!

T.E.A.L.® at the 5th Annual Queens Cancer Walk

On September 15th T.E.A.L.® had the opportunity to spread awareness about ovarian cancer at the 5th Annual Queens Cancer Walk in South Richmond Hill, NY. A T.E.A.L.® representative was able to interact with all attendees and answer any questions he/she had about ovarian cancer. Another amazing event!

1st Annual Boardman T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run in Ohio

The 1st Annual Boardman T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run took place on September 8, 2018 in Boardman, Ohio with over 120 participants. It was a beautiful day to honor all the amazing ladies, and those who have been affected by ovarian cancer.  This event raised over $1,400 and was organized by The Rose Mary Flanagan Ovarian Cancer Foundation.

Turn the Towns Teal® and T.E.A.L.® Conduct Brooklyn Awareness Campaign

Along with the national organization Turn the Towns Teal®, Tell Every Amazing Lady® promoted awareness about ovarian cancer in Brooklyn on August 20th, 2018, and September 14th, 2018. On these dates, T.E.A.L.® held a ribbon tying campaign in Brooklyn on 5th Avenue, North Flatbush Avenue, and Myrtle Avenue. T.E.A.L.® supporters, with the help of the local Business Improvement Districts and volunteers, tied teal ribbons around trees in honor of September being ovarian cancer awareness month. Thank you to Turn the Towns Teal® and to the many volunteers who helped us turn Brooklyn teal!

T.E.A.L.® Hosts QBE Webinar

Throughout the month of September T.E.A.L.® was invited to spread awareness about ovarian cancer to the staff at QBE North America.  QBE has been a generous supporter of T.E.A.L.® by creating an online campaign, forming a team and supporting our Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run and more! During a company wide webinar, sponsored by the QBE Foundation, we reached over 2,000 employees of QBE North America in locations around the country including New York, Atlanta and Chicago spreading awareness and answering questions.

4th Annual Whitesboro T.E.A.L.® Walk

The 4th Annual Whitesboro T.E.A.L.® Walk in New York took place at Whitestown Town Park on September 8th, 2018. This walk aims to encourage awareness, courage, and strength of both ovarian cancer survivors and the families who have been touched by the disease while spreading knowledge and raising funds for research for a cure! The event included activity booths, a Survivor Ceremony, an exercise warm up, and more. The event raised $5,608.00. Thank you to our volunteers who help organize this wonderful event.

 

10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run for Ovarian Cancer

On September 8th, 2018, T.E.A.L.® hosted the 10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run for ovarian cancer. Thanks to the many participants and volunteers at the 10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run, T.E.A.L.® celebrated a decade of raising awareness, supporting survivors, and funding ovarian cancer research. The walk took place at the Bandshell at Prospect Park and hasn’t reached its goal yet of $250,000! To donate go to www.TealWalk.org/Brooklyn. All the profits raised at the 10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run will go to supporting T.E.A.L.® mission of awareness, support, and medical research.

The event included a non-competitive run, walk, a survivor ceremony, and several booths and stations for ovarian cancer awareness and support. During September, which is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month T.E.A.L.® Walks could be seen in various cities of the USA throughout the month. Thank you to all the walkers, runners, and volunteers who made this year’s events possible, and thank you to everyone who has helped T.E.A.L.® continue its mission in the past 10 years!

T.E.A.L.® Youth Ambassador Joins Harlem Fashion Week 2018

One of our Youth Ambassadors, Kiara Carrion, had her fashion line, Kitara featured in Harlem Fashion Week! Kiara continues to impress us with her amazing perseverance and dedication at such a young age! Read below about her inspiration behind her beautiful, teal, designs.

The Orange piece represented a symbol of Strength, Courage, Hope and Faith. Blessed to have shown my collection at fashion week at the age of 17. It was an amazing experience from the audition process to seeing the models on the runway. I want to thank my friends and family that came to support me and the amazing models that did an amazing job.”

Staten Island Survivor Walks for T.E.A.L.®

Josephine Corcoran, an ovarian cancer survivor, walked with T.E.A.L.® and her team, Team Jo, at the 10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run for ovarian cancer. After several months of chemotherapy and surgery, Jo found out that her cancer had returned, but nonetheless she walked in Brooklyn for ovarian cancer! Jo and 21 of her friends and family made it to the walk on September 8th, 2018. Jo’s story was featured at silive.com, which also highlighted T.E.A.L.®’s mission and promoted the 10th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run. Thank you, Jo!

Coney Island Kicks Off a TEAL September

On Saturday, September 1st, T.E.A.L.® kicked off National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month with the lighting of Luna Park’s Parachute Jump in Coney Island the color teal for the 4th year in a row! In addition to this, T.E.A.L.® partnered with the Brooklyn Cyclones whom allowed our CEO, Pamela Esposito-Amery, to throw the first pitch, and later awarded her with a “Winning Woman” award.
